A Treasure Map - President Thomas S. Monson - Find about God´s Commandments

The purpose of this series is to gather from speeches of our prophets and apostles, short chains of thoughts that lead us to Christ. At the same time, maybe we can inspire our readers to find their own maps, for example in family home evenings.

President Thomas S. Monson

"God’s commandments are not given to frustrate us or to become obstacles to our happiness. Just the opposite is true. He who created us and who loves us perfectly knows just how we need to live our lives in order to obtain the greatest happiness possible. He has provided us with guidelines which, if we follow them, will see us safely through this often treacherous mortal journey. We remember the words of the familiar hymn: 'Keep the commandments! In this there is safety; in this there is peace.'" (“Keep the Commandments,” Hymns, no. 303) - -
"May we realize that our greatest happiness in this life will come as we follow God’s commandments and obey His laws! I love the words found in Isaiah chapter 32, verse 17: “The work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” Such peace, such assurance can come only through righteousness."

"Those who are obedient to the Lord’s commandments and who faithfully observe the Word of Wisdom are promised particular blessings, among which are good health and added physical stamina."

"Essential to the plan is our Savior, Jesus Christ. Without His atoning sacrifice, all would be lost. It is not enough, however, merely to believe in Him and His mission. We need to work and learn, search and pray, repent and improve. We need to know God’s laws and live them. We need to receive His saving ordinances. Only by so doing will we obtain true, eternal happiness."

"If you do not have a firm testimony of these things, do that which is necessary to obtain one. It is essential for you to have your own testimony in these difficult times, for the testimonies of others will carry you only so far. However, once obtained, a testimony needs to be kept vital and alive through continued obedience to the commandments of God and through daily prayer and scripture study."

Testimony:
Our Heavenly Father has a great plan for each of us. He knows and loves each of us. We are His precious children He aims that we all go back to his presence and live with Him again.
As I was preparing this, I have thought of President Thomas S. Monson’s messages. The convincing and inspiring messages he had given, Keeping the commandments has strike me the most. I take time to reflect myself have I been keeping the commandments all days, and when time comes to test me. The test of our lives is always on keeping the commandments. As we embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are able to know what the commandments of our God are. When we believe on these commandments as our key to eternal happiness, we would like to obey and follow each of them. When we have faith that these commandments will brings us back to Heavenly Father, we will not see these commandments to be the frustration and obstacle of our lives. I believe that these commandments are the proof of our Heavenly Father’s great love for each of us. He knows we will stumble and fall, He knows we will need a Savior that will redeem us , that we can repent of our sins. As we do our best to live our live believing in God, we show our love to Him by obeying His commandments and follow him. Constant communion with Him, pondering the scriptures and serving others, strengthens our love and devotion to Him. Be valiant to our testimony this way we can keep the commandments and live a life with peace and purity. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
